Reebok x Foot Locker ‘Alter The Icons’ Launch

In partnership with Reebok & Foot Locker

Once again I had the pleasure of being invited back to the amazing flagship Foot Locker Liverpool One store last month, to check out the launch of something new and exciting from global sportswear giants, Reebok.

The Alter The Icons range is the new collection from Reebok that takes classic silhouettes and uses the power of music and influencers to create new takes on old school looks.

The collection looks to lead the future generation of designers, artists, and other visionaries in challenging them to dare to alter their paths.

The special occasion was a way for Reebok to honour the spirit of the collection by connecting the classic urban bootlegging subculture with heritage-hacked sneakers. The setup paid homage to the fact that Reebok has no ceiling when it comes to the brands’ future creativity, a message that speaks to me greatly.

The Foot Locker Liveropool One store had been transformed, with Reebook taking over womenswear on the first floor for an interactive shop floor experience.

Before the activity got underway on the shop floor, I had the pleasure of linking up with the teams from both the Foot Locker and Reebok to talk more about the products in depth (Shoutout to Jo, Amy, Poppy, Barry & co.)

A special display was held in the Foot Locker private room where I got to see the colourways before they hit the shop floor and made available to the general public on sale. Lined up in perfect order, Reebook’s new look range was instantly engaging. The two contenders came in the form of the Reebok Classics & Reebok Workouts, both cult sneakers in their own right.

Reebok had smashed it out of the park this time with a core range of colours, including Black, White, and a very popular maroon. The choice was tough to pick a favourite, so of course I had to try them all on!

Once I had chosen my favourites, we headed back onto the shop floor for some more action.

The installation on the shop floor was certainly eye-catching and drew plenty of attention over the weekend’s proceedings. Capturing the imagination of shoppers with interactive pop-ups is great to see and something to draw more people to the Reebok brand with a photo-booth to capture unique portrait images and also a huge personalisation station where you could make your own custom t-shirt was a welcomed addition.

With my heart ultimately set on the Workout’s it came down to a colour choice, between maroon and black and black took the crown due to its versatility.

The phrase timeless classic is banded about a lot these days and a lot of the time it is done so without just merit. The Reebok Workout is however undoubtedly a timeless classic, and sewn into popular British culture as an iconic shoe.

What makes this shoe so special?  This shoe still adheres to the high street code of conduct, their release date is 1987  but they stay relevant like they never went away. This has given the shoe a timeless, everyman quality: along with the Classic Leather, it’s a mainstay in British culture; from the playground, to the rave, to the pub, its presence is guaranteed.
